JEM/DEW is an integrative craft and culinary studio based in Brooklyn. The creative process sits at the intersection of traditional craft methods, contemporary design, food and fermentation science, social practice, critical pedagogy and zero waste principles.
Routines, rituals and gestures may involve:
Repairing textiles, constructing wearables and making (fun)ctional objects
Using the processes of teaching and learning to solve problems and give agency
Creating environments for the exchange of skills, knowledge and resources
Designing meals and menus; feeding ourselves and each other
Observing, documenting, and intervening in public spaces
Collaborating in real time and asynchronously
